There's a Wiki for those who are interested in the new tools, so feel free to try them and see what you can create. Steam Workshop integration is also a fantastic feature rather than having to download the mods seperately, then backup, move, tweak, unzip and load the relevant files, you merely click "subscribe" in the steam UI - Marvellous! Additionally, all of your mods will be updated when needed, and people can comment, rate and discuss the mods, all for free. In fact, the GUTS release even has a tool that converts these previous mods into GUTS capable mods, and all for free! It's wonderful to see this level of community response and respect from Developers, and serves to highlight what other companies could to with their playerbase. With the entire game rotating around the interesting stories and builds possible, it makes perfect sense to add Modding tools after all, people have been making mods even without them! Torchlight 2 is a traditional, third person RPG, with numerous classes and skill builds possible very akin to the Diablo series.
Torchlight 2 is the latest game to do so, with the release of their GUTS development tool, along with Steam workshop integration. More and more games these days are moving away from set-piece stories and letting the community create their own content via mods.
